Getting Started - HTTPS

This article is simplified for beginners. Complete information about HTTPS setup can be found in the article Webhosting – Automatic HTTPS Setup, Manual HTTPS Setup and HTTPS on the Web.

Where do you want to set up HTTPS?

HTTPS on Webhosting

Log in to the customer administration and visit the HTTPS settings hub ⧉.

Select from the list the Webhosting on which you want to activate HTTPS.

If you do not see Quick HTTPS setup with Let's Encrypt certificate, select and confirm HTTPS disabled in the HTTPS variant selection box.

Wait up to 90 minutes.

  • Certificate issuance usually takes up to 30 minutes.
  • Propagation of the active certificate settings may take up to another 30 minutes.
  • The last 30 minutes are reserved in case any of the previous processes takes unusually long.

If HTTPS does not work even after 90 minutes, or if you notice errors, contact customer support ⧉. Include the service name and the exact wording of the error message.

Done! 🎉

After successful HTTPS activation, we recommend setting it up on the website as well.

HTTPS on WordPress

We recommend performing the procedure below only after successful HTTPS activation on Webhosting.

Information about HTTPS setup for other solutions can be found in the article Webhosting – HTTPS on the Web.

Log in to the administration of your WordPress.

If you do not know the WordPress administration address, enter the text /wp-login.php after your domain name in the browser (for example kb.vedos.cz).

In the left menu, select Settings.

On the General tab, make sure both addresses - WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) start with https://.

Save the changes by clicking the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

Your website should now switch to the HTTPS version even after entering the address with http://. If that does not happen, consider deploying an HTTPS/SSL plugin.
