Virtual server templates (template)

Templates are used to quickly create several VPSs with identical configuration and content. With them, you can configure one server and, based on its current state at the time the template is created, create new servers.


Creating a template

Create a virtual server template using these steps:

  1. Log in to ON SunStone administration ⧉.
  2. In the left menu, select Instances Virtual machines.
  3. Select the server from the list from which you want to create the template.
  4. Shut down the server (poweroff).
  5. Click the save button ().
  6. Fill in the Template name and click the Save template button.

Template management

If you need to edit a template, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to ON SunStone administration ⧉.
  2. In the left menu, select Templates Virtual machines.
  3. Select the template you want to edit from the list.
  4. Click the blue Edit button in the template header.
  5. Make the required changes and confirm with the green Edit button.

Deletion is similar, but in step 4 you choose the red button with the trash can icon .

Create a new server from a template using these steps:

  1. Log in to ON SunStone administration ⧉.
  2. In the left menu, select Instances Virtual machines.
  3. Click the green + button.
  4. Select a template and click the green Create button.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long after creation does a server created from a template usually remain in the PENDING state?

Creating a server from a template usually takes at most a few minutes. If the PENDING state persists, you have probably exhausted all available addresses on the network interface. Purchase more IP addresses, or move the VPS to another network interface.
