Adding an ISO image of a CD/DVD media
Virtual VPS SSD and HDD servers have their own virtual drive that allows attaching ISO images of CD/DVD media.
The system accepts only ISO files available directly via a URL without the need for login, confirmation, or entering a verification code.
The system contains many pre-prepared ISO images. If none of them suits you, add your own by following these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Serverhosting VPS SSD or VPS HDD.
- From the list, select the VPS to which you want to add the ISO image.
- In the left menu, select Add ISO CD/DVD.
- In the Add ISO CD/DVD box, enter the path to the ISO file and confirm with the Download button.

You can see the process and information about the completion of the ISO file download directly in the customer administration.
Attaching and detaching an ISO image
Attach or detach a pre-prepared or uploaded ISO image by following these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Serverhosting VPS SSD or VPS HDD.
- From the list, select the VPS to which you want to add the ISO image.
- In the ISO CD/DVD box in the service detail, select the desired image and click the Attach or Detach button.

You will immediately see the attached image in the OS as if the media had been inserted into the drive.
The CD/DVD remains attached after one soft reset (through the operating system or Ctrl+Alt+Del) and the server will boot from it in that case. After a hard reset, the CD/DVD is not attached, except when using the hard reset + attach button.
When working with ISO CD/DVD, follow these safety precautions:
- If you no longer use the ISO file, detach it. Files taking up space in the shared storage are continuously removed by the system, and the server may shut down during such cleanup.
- If you do not want to boot from the CD/DVD, detach it immediately after use. Otherwise, a random restart may boot from the CD/DVD instead of the VPS operating system.
Booting from CD/DVD
Before booting from CD/DVD, attach the KVM client.
After adding and attaching the ISO image, you can boot from it after a soft reset, or after a hard reset.
Booting after a soft reset
If the operating system responds and you can perform a normal server restart:
- Attach the CD/DVD in the administration by clicking the attach button.
- Restart through the operating system or with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Del.
The server will boot from the attached CD/DVD.
Booting after a hard reset
If you do not have any operating system installed, or the installed system does not respond and therefore you cannot perform a soft reset, select the desired CD/DVD in the administration and click the hard reset + attach button.
Common problems
Common problems with installation from a custom ISO include:
Cannot read from CD/DVD
Problem: The error Could not read from CDROM, Code 0003 is displayed in KVM.
Solution: Send the Ctrl+Alt+Del command. Find instructions for sending the command in the documentation of the selected VNC client.
Frequently asked questions
How do I upload an ISO from my computer to the system?
Use any storage where the file will be available directly via URL without requiring any additional verification. Uploading ISO from your own computer is supported only by VPS ON.
