Hiding domain contact details
The conditions for hiding domain contact details are set by the registry, so for different domain extensions you will encounter different options for which details you can set as public and which you want to hide.
You can always verify the visibility of details by entering the domain into the appropriate WHOIS system or the online tool designed for this purpose.
CZ Domains
For CZ domain contacts, you can hide the following details:
- address (only for MojeID contacts verified by the CZ.NIC registry)
- telephone
- fax
- VAT ID
- document number
First name and surname, or company name and company ID, cannot be hidden.
If the address for a contact is hidden, any change to this contact will disable hiding until the contact is verified again by the registry. For contacts registered outside the MojeID service, the address can no longer be hidden again, even if you verify the contact again.
EU Domains
For EU domain contacts, details cannot be hidden.
For individuals, WHOIS always displays the e-mail address and language.
For companies, WHOIS displays the company name, city, region, country, e-mail address, and language.
SK Domains
For SK domain contacts, you can hide the following details:
- name
- company
- address
- telephone
- fax
However, the WHOIS system for SK domains takes the above setting into account only for legal entities (it always displays the name, company name, and address).
For individuals, it always displays only the name, regardless of the above setting.
PL Domains
For PL domain contacts, details cannot be hidden.
For individuals, WHOIS never displays any details.
For companies, WHOIS displays the company name, name, address, and telephone number.
Generic domains (gTLD and nTLD)
For generic domains, the following details are always hidden:
- name
- company
- address
- telephone
- fax
This setting cannot be changed.
Setting up detail hiding
Enter the contact editing interface according to the instructions Domains – Contact editing.
If your contact supports edits, hide them by checking the appropriate option in the customer administration.
By default, all supported details are hidden.
Avoid providing incomplete or false details. By concealing or falsifying domain contact information, you violate the terms of the registry and the registrar. The consequence may be even domain cancellation.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer WHOIS privacy?
We do not currently offer this service, which usually consists of displaying the registrar's details instead of the owner's details. You can only hide details, and only if the registry allows it.
How does contact verification at CZ.NIC work? When will I be able to hide my address?
Find out the current information about contact verification directly from the registry ⧉. Once the registry allows address hiding, you can do it through the standard procedure in the customer administration.
What happens if I provide false details for a domain?
The registry may suspend the domain (remove it from DNS) or delete it.
