Domain insurance
For CZ domains registered with WEDOS, you can arrange insurance directly from the customer administration. The service is provided by pojisteni.cz ⧉ and Slavia pojišťovna ⧉.
The insurance order is non-binding until you pay it. Once paid, the insurance is concluded. You can terminate it according to the general insurance terms and conditions ⧉ – among other things by changing the registrar or the domain owner.
Domain insurance includes these services by default:
- Domain insurance in case of theft: The policy covers the technical theft of the domain, i.e. the unauthorized removal of access to the domain from its rightful holder. The amount of the insurance compensation depends on the service variant. We currently offer the Jistota variant with coverage of 1,000,000 CZK and the Jistota EXTRA variant with coverage of 3,000,000 CZK.
- IT assistance services: With the IT experts of Slavia pojišťovna, you can quickly consult problems related to domain operation, for example the procedure in case of theft, prevention of fraud during transfer, locking, authorization of changes, expiration of ownership and domain renewal, or theft of an online account.
For a complete overview, visit www.pojisteni.cz/domeny ⧉.
The annual fee includes 1 intervention of IT assistance services (Jistota, Jistota EXTRA) or legal assistance services (Jistota EXTRA only), lasting up to 60 minutes.
Jistota Extra
The EXTRA insurance variant includes, in addition to the basic services and higher coverage, the following service:
- Legal assistance services: With the help of a lawyer, you can deal with, for example, disputes over domain ownership, misuse of a name/trademark, transfer and sale, inheritance proceedings in relation to domain ownership, or securing and blocking a domain by decision of state authorities. The complete list can be found on www.pojisteni.cz/domeny ⧉.
Arranging domain insurance
To arrange insurance for an existing domain, follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Domains.
- Select the domain you want to insure from the list.
- In the details, select the insurance variant and click the Continue to Pojisteni.cz button.

You complete the order on the partner website Pojisteni.cz ⧉.
The arrangement of domain insurance is non-binding until you pay for it.
Insurance for a new domain
You can also insure a newly registered domain:
- In the new domain order ⧉, check Domain insurance in the additional services and choose a variant.
- After paying for the domain, check your email.
- Follow the instructions in the email.

Because this is an external service, the Domain insurance system does not include the price in the registration fee.
Handling an insurance claim
Call the assistance line on business days from 9:00 to 19:00. The current number to call can be found at www.pojisteni.cz/domeny ⧉.
If you suspect that the domain has been stolen, also contact the Police of the Czech Republic and VEDOS support ⧉.
In the event of domain theft, Slavia pojišťovna will pay the insurance benefit if the domain is not returned within 30 days, or within 180 days in the case of countries outside the EU.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find the invoice or tax document for domain insurance?
Insurance companies usually do not send invoices for two reasons:
- VAT exemption: Under the VAT Act, insurance services are exempt from tax without the right to deduction. Therefore, the insurance company does not issue a tax document (an invoice with VAT).
- Contractual relationship: The obligation to pay arises directly from the law and from the concluded contract. Instead of an invoice, the insurance company usually sends only a “Premium schedule” or payment information (by email or letter), which is essentially just a reminder that the due date under the contract is approaching.
If you keep tax records or accounting, proceed as follows:
- Take a copy of the insurance contract (it determines the amount of the expense).
- Attach a bank statement showing the outgoing payment.
If the insurance spans two years (for example, you pay in October for the year ahead), make an accrual adjustment in your accounting so that only the proportional part enters the costs of the given year.
Which domain extensions can I insure?
At present, we insure only domains with the CZ extension.
What exactly does domain theft mean?
The insurance company defines domain theft as technical theft of the domain, which means the unauthorized removal of access to the domain from its rightful holder.
How do I secure a domain against theft?
Keep the details of the domain contact up to date, especially the phone number and email address. You can also have the domain locked against changes. If the insurance company evaluates the security measures as insufficient, it may propose reducing the compensation.
Who provides support for Domain Insurance?
If you need advice or help with the product, contact the POJISTENI.cz support ⧉. All contracts go through them, and they also handle orders, billing, etc. They will also answer any further questions you may have about the product.
Will I really get 1 million CZK for a stolen domain?
In the event of domain theft, the insurance company will assess the value of the domain, e.g. the turnover of an e-shop for a certain period, etc. Based on the documents you provide, it will then determine the actual value and pay the corresponding amount.
