This article addresses increasing the capacity of email mailboxes for hosting services. If you need to verify the size, follow the instructions in E-mails – Mailbox Occupancy Check.
In this article, you will learn:
- How to increase email mailbox space
- How to reduce email mailbox space
- Common problems
- Frequently asked questions
Increasing email mailbox space
If you need to increase mailbox size on the email service, first decide what final capacity you require:
- 10 – 500 GB: For relatively low capacities, we recommend the standard increase described below.
- 1 – 5 TB: For high capacities, we recommend the Business tariff, which also offers other benefits, such as higher limits for sending emails. More information can be found on the product page for the Mailhosting service ⧉.
To perform a standard increase of email mailbox space, follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, choose Hosting services Mailhosting, Webhosting, WebSite, or WMS.
- Select the specific service from the list for which you want to increase the mailboxes.
- In the left menu, click Additional services.
- In the overview of additional services, click the green button (for the first increase), or the magnifying glass icon next to the item Increase email space by 5 GB.
- Select or change the number of activations of the additional service. Each activation adds the stated amount of space to the total email storage.
- Click the Activate or Change button.
Edit email capacity:

The settings will take effect within 30 minutes.
The system will generate and send the payment request within 1 business day.
Business tariff for emails
When the Business tariff is activated, the system automatically deactivates the existing extension Increase email space by 5 GB. Any previously paid amount for this service will be deducted from the first payment for the tariff upgrade, until it is reduced to zero. From the next billing period, the price will be calculated normally.
The activation of the Business tariff itself differs for Webhosting, Hosting WP, and Mailhosting:
- Webhosting: Follow the instructions above, but instead of the service Increase email space by 5 GB, select Upgrade email services to the Business variant. Alternatively, use this link to manage the additional service in the customer administration.
- Mailhosting and Hosting WP: Change the service tariff according to the following instructions:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, choose Hosting services Mailhosting or Hosting WP.
- Select the specific service from the list for which you want to increase the mailboxes.
- In the left menu, click Change variant.
- Use the Select button to choose the Business tariff.
- Confirm the change with the Change variant button.
The settings will take effect within 30 minutes.
The system will generate and send the payment request within 1 business day.
Reducing email mailbox capacity
The system only allows reducing email mailbox capacity if the volume of emails on the server does not exceed the new capacity. If the value of Email size in the system does not match reality, contact support via the form ⧉ and request a recalculation.
If you want to reduce or completely cancel the increase, enter the additional services management interface just as when activating the increase. In the additional service settings, then:
- reduce the number of activations by clicking the change link in the Additional service information table and select the new number of activations of the additional service, or
- deactivate the additional service by clicking the Deactivate button and confirming the deactivation.

Common problems
Common problems with increasing and decreasing mailbox capacity include:
- An incorrect value is displayed in the administration
- Mailboxes are still 100% full after increasing capacity
- Mailbox capacity cannot be reduced
Incorrect mailbox capacity value
Problem: After increasing capacity, the original (incorrect) value is still shown in the administration.
Cause: Mailbox expansion usually takes effect within half an hour. The administration also shows two different values - the mailbox capacity (maximum email volume) and the occupancy (current email volume).
Solution: After making the change, wait for it to propagate. Also make sure you are checking the capacity in the correct place - you will find it in the limits according to the instructions E-mails – Domain, permissions, limits.
Individual mailboxes remain full
Problem: After increasing capacity, some (or all) mailboxes are still 100% full.
Cause: Capacity can also be set for individual mailboxes.
Solution: Check the settings of individual mailboxes according to the instructions E-mails – Mailboxes.
Cannot reduce capacity
Problem: When trying to reduce capacity, an error message appears saying that there are more emails in the mailboxes than correspond to the new capacity.
Cause: If mailbox cleanup occurred recently, the system has probably not yet recalculated the email volume.
Solution: Contact support via the form and ask for a review and, if necessary, a manual capacity recalculation in the system.
Frequently asked questions
