This article covers VPS SSD add-on services. Instructions for activating and deactivating add-on services can be found in the article Services – Add-on Services.
In this article, you will learn details about the add-on services:
- Double Disk
- Internal and External Backup
- Internal Snapshots
- How to activate and manage internal snapshots
Double Disk
By activating the Double Disk add-on service, you create in the system a separate virtual disk of the same size as the existing disk of your VPS. The system will attach this disk as an additional device.
Activating the Double Disk add-on service has no effect on the existing disk.
If you need to increase not only the disk but also the performance of VPS SSD, follow the instructions VPS SSD - Increase Parameters.
Activating Double Disk
The Double Disk add-on service is part of the VPS SSD Profi ⧉ variant.
To set up Double Disk, first activate the add-on service according to the instructions Services - Add-on Services. Then in the customer administration, turn off and turn on the VPS. During this restart, the system will attach the new disk.
After the operating system boots, create disk partitions on the disk device and set up the filesystem on them. Then proceed according to the specifics of your operating system.
Double Disk: Frequently Asked Questions
Will the size of the additional disk increase when the VPS parameters are upgraded?
After the upgrade, check whether the partition and filesystem were also automatically enlarged. If the filesystem has not been increased, follow the instructions VPS SSD - Parameter Upgrade.
Is there any way to increase only the existing disk and no other VPS SSD parameters?
Unfortunately, VPS SSD can only be upgraded modularly, and disk capacity is increased only by attaching a second disk. Independent manipulation of parameters is supported only by the VPS ON ⧉ service.
Internal and External Backup
Backup add-on services create a backup of:
- VPS
- Second disk (Double Disk)
- Snapshots (Internal Snapshots)
The frequency and location of the backup depend on the selected backup type.
- Local daily backups: The system stores the backup on other disks within the same server. It overwrites the existing backup with a new backup every day.
- Weekly external backups: The system stores the backup on another server in a different rack. It overwrites the existing backup with a new backup every week.
Activating backup
Both daily local and weekly external backups are part of the VPS SSD Profi ⧉ variant.
Activate the selected backup method by choosing the add-on service according to the instructions Services - Add-on Services.
Restoring a server from backup
Backups are primarily used to restore data in the event of server failure. Restoration at your request is charged according to the current backup service conditions.
To restore a server backup, contact us via the form ⧉. Please provide the server name, the date and time of the backup to be restored, and your consent to the price. We will attach the provided backup as an additional disk to the virtual server, from which you can perform the restore.
Internal and External Backup: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out the date and time of the currently available daily/weekly backup?
Send a request via the form ⧉, and a technician will provide you with the requested information.
Internal Snapshots
A snapshot is, in the context of virtualization, the state of a virtual server at a specific moment. It includes the state of disk devices and RAM memory. After restoring a VPS from a snapshot, the server is therefore exactly in the state it was in at the moment the snapshot was created.
As part of the add-on service, you can activate 1 - 10 internal snapshots. You can then manage them at your own discretion. The system stores internal snapshots on other disks within the same server.
Activating internal snapshots
Internal snapshots with the maximum number of 10 activations are part of the VPS SSD Profi ⧉ variant.
Activate the add-on service for internal snapshots according to the instructions Services - Add-on Services.
When activating the service, select the number of snapshots you want to activate. You can change this number later.

Managing internal snapshots
After successfully activating the add-on service, you will find the Snapshot Management item in the left menu of the VPS administration.
In this interface, you can:
- Create new snapshots.
- Delete existing snapshots.
- Return to the state captured in the snapshot.
When creating a snapshot or restoring from a snapshot, there may be a brief outage. The duration of the outage depends on the size of the VPS disk devices.
After restoring a VPS from a snapshot, you cannot restore the original state before the action in any way.

To change the number of activations of the add-on service, display its details according to the instructions Services - Add-on Services.
In the management interface for the Internal Snapshots add-on service, proceed as follows:
- In the Number field in the Service extension information table, click the Change link.
- Select the new number and click the change button.

Internal Snapshots: Frequently Asked Questions
I do not see a field for adding a new snapshot in the snapshot management interface, what is happening?
You have reached the maximum number of snapshots. Increase the number of activations of the add-on service, or delete existing snapshots.
