VPS SSD parameter upgrades
VPS SSD parameters are modular, so the following configuration options are available:
- 15 GB HDD, 2 GB RAM, 1 proc.
- 30 GB HDD, 4 GB RAM, 1 proc.
- 60 GB HDD, 8 GB RAM, 2 proc.
- 120 GB HDD, 16 GB RAM, 4 proc.
- 180 GB HDD, 24 GB RAM, 6 proc.
- 240 GB HDD, 32 GB RAM, 8 proc.
You can only increase VPS SSD parameters; the system does not allow reductions. The upgrade process is therefore irreversible for the given VPS.
The parameter upgrade will delete all existing snapshots.
Performing the upgrade
Before upgrading the parameters, take the following precautions:
- Set aside time for the necessary downtime. The length of the downtime depends on the amount of data stored on the VPS disk. A rough estimate is 10 GB of used space ~ 3 minutes of upgrading.
- Expect a server restart. Make sure all services start correctly on the server after boot.
- Ensure you have a backup. No data is lost during the upgrade itself, but we have recorded cases of damage caused by improper intervention during or following the upgrade.
Before performing the upgrade, shut down the operating system and power off the server. If you do not do this, the system will shut down the server forcibly.
Then proceed as follows:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Server Services VPS SSD.
- Select the service you want to upgrade from the list.
- In the left menu, select Variant Upgrade.
- Choose the target variant and confirm with the Upgrade variant button.

Wait for the upgrade to complete in the system; the process usually takes no more than 30 minutes. The VPS system will then start automatically. To complete the parameter upgrade, proceed as follows:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Server Services VPS SSD.
- Select the service you want to upgrade from the list.
- In the Server Control table, press the Turn off button.
- After the server has shut down, press the Turn on button in the Server Control table.

Complete the parameter upgrade by turning off and turning on the service in the customer administration. A normal restart or hard reset is not enough.
After the restart, check whether the partition and file system have been automatically expanded. If necessary, perform the expansion manually.
After the upgrade is completed, the system will automatically charge the additional payment for the upgrade from the Credit Account. If you do not have sufficient credit in the Credit Account, it will instead issue an invoice with a due date of 7 days for payment of the price difference by the end of the currently prepaid period at the latest.
Common problems
Common problems with VPS SSD parameter upgrades include:
Original parameters on the server
Problem: After the system boots at the end of the upgrade, it still shows the original values.
Solution: Turn the server off and back on in the customer administration ⧉. You can find the detailed procedure in this part of the guide. Any other restart is not enough.
The file system upgrade did not take place
Problem: After the upgrade and hard reset, the file system still has its original size.
Cause: The system automatically upgrades only the file systems of operating systems preinstalled by us (after January 2013).
Solution: For custom OS installations, perform the manual upgrade according to the community guide VPS – File system expansion ⧉.
