Webhosting - Uninstalling an Application

This guide covers uninstalling an application installed through the installer. Instructions for installation and troubleshooting can be found in the article Webhosting – Application Installer.

In this article you will learn:

Uninstallation in the customer administration

This part of the uninstallation removes only the databases installed together with the application. You must remove the files manually via FTP.

To uninstall an application in the customer administration, first open the installer interface by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
  2. In the menu, choose Hosting Services Webhosting.
  3. Open the detail of the specific Webhosting service.
  4. In the left menu, select Application Installer.

Then perform the uninstallation itself as follows:

  1. Select the application you want to uninstall from the menu.
  2. In the application detail, click the My installations tab.
  3. In the list of installations, click the magnifying glass icon in the row for the installation you want to remove.
  4. In the application detail, click the gray Uninstall button.
  5. Confirm the uninstallation with the green Yes, uninstall button.

Uninstallation via FTP

Perform this part of the uninstallation after uninstalling the application in the customer administration:

  1. Using an FTP client (for example webFTP ⧉), connect to the hosting.
  2. In the www/domains folder, delete the folder with the application (the corresponding domain).

You can find instructions for working with files via FTP in the article Webhosting – File Management.

Common issues

Common problems with uninstalling an application include:

Cannot delete files

Problem: When trying to delete the old website folder from FTP, an error message appears, or undeleted files and folders remain on the server.

Cause: This may be a problem with file permissions, or an error on FTP itself.

Solution: First fix the file permissions according to these instructions and wait 10 minutes. Then try deleting again.

If the files still cannot be deleted, or if you cannot log in to the account at all, create a temporary FTP account for support and contact us ⧉. Provide the Webhosting name, the FTP account name (e.g. domena.tld) you use to log in with (e.g. w123456_spravce), the name of the folder you are trying to delete, and the exact error message.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I install another application after uninstalling one?

Make sure you removed the entire folder with the previous installation on FTP. If you are facing other problems with installing a new application, resolve them according to the guide Webhosting – Application Installer.

We accidentally uninstalled the application, how can we restore it?

Uninstallation in the administration deletes the database; files on FTP are deleted manually. If you have an application backup available, you can restore it; alternatively, you can request one from us. In both cases, follow this guide on website backups.
