This article concerns setting up an automatic signature for emails sent from the web-based email client WebMail ⧉. The automatic signature setting in WebMail does not affect automatic signing of messages in other email clients.
The screenshots were taken in the new Elastic template. If you use the older Larry template, follow the text instructions, or change the template temporarily according to the manual.
In this article you will learn:
- How to set a basic automatic signature
- How to add formatting (HTML) to a signature
- Common problems
- Frequently asked questions
Basic automatic signature
To set up an automatic signature, follow these steps:
- Log in to WebMail ⧉.
- Click the Settings button.
- In the menu, select Profiles.
- In the Profiles settings column, select the identity for which you want to set the automatic signature.
- In the Signature section, fill in the signature text.
- Save the changes with the Save button.

Next, verify that the client has signature insertion set correctly:
- In the menu, click Preferences and then Composing messages.
- In Signature settings make sure the option Automatically add signature: always is selected. Alternatively, choose signature insertion according to your preference.
- Confirm the settings changes with the Save button.

All sent messages will now include your (text) signature.
Formatted signature (HTML)
You can format the message signature using HTML. This setting allows you to set the font and colors of the signature, or add images and other custom code.
You can attach an HTML signature only to HTML messages. First set all messages to HTML format using these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- In the menu, click Preferences and then Composing messages.
- In Main settings change the option Create HTML messages to always.
- Confirm the settings changes with the Save button.

Next, mark the signature formatting as HTML. Add the signature according to the first part of the chapter Basic automatic signature, then in the upper left part of the field click the image icon to open the text editor.
You can now format the signature directly in the field for entering it.

After clicking the icon, you can upload your own image to the signature up to a size of 64 kB.
If you want to add custom HTML, click the < > icon in the HTML signature editor.
Images in the signature
When inserting an image into an HTML signature via the HTML/text editor, you may encounter a maximum size of 64 kB. If you need to insert a larger image into the signature, follow these steps:
- Place the image on Webhosting or another service that allows connection via HTTPS.
- Click the < > icon in the signature editor to open the field for adding custom code.
- Insert the image HTML according to the template (replace the text in parentheses with your own values):
<img src=”https://(URL adresa obrázku)” alt=”(krátký popis obrázku)” height=”(výška obrázku v pixelech, jak se má ve zprávě zobrazit)”>
If the image is not available at the given address, it will not be displayed in your emails either.
Common problems
Common problems with automatic signing include:
The signature is not formatted
Problem: I have a formatted signature set up, but the recipient sees it as unformatted.
Cause: The most common cause is that global message formatting is turned off. HTML may also be disabled in the recipient's client.
Solution: Make sure that in addition to formatting the signature itself, you also have HTML message creation enabled as described in the first part of the chapter Formatted signature (HTML).
The signature does not work in another client
Problem: The configured signature does not work when sending messages from another email client.
Cause: In this case, WebMail settings apply only to messages sent from WebMail.
Solution: Set the signature in that client according to its manual.
