This article addresses HTTPS activation for the WebSite service. If you need to activate HTTPS for Webhosting, follow the instructions in Webhosting - Automatic HTTPS.
HTTPS cannot be activated for domains themselves.
In this article you will learn:
Activating HTTPS in WebSite
The WebSite service sets up HTTPS automatically. To activate it successfully, you only need to have the domain or subdomain pointed in DNS to the corresponding WebSite service.
For new domains, DNS propagation may take several hours after registration or owner verification. A similar delay may occur when changing DNS servers or records.
If HTTPS is not active, check the service status in the customer administration by following these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration.
- In the top menu, select Hosting Services WebSite.
- Select the WebSite service for which you want to manage HTTPS from the menu.

If you see a warning about an error when setting up HTTPS at the top of the page, first check the DNS settings:
- Verify that the domain or subdomain has the correct A records set. The IP addresses can be found directly in the warning.
- If the selected domain or subdomain contains other A or AAAA records that point it somewhere other than WebSite, delete those records.
- If the records are correct, verify that you are using the DNS servers (NSSET) where you set the records. DNS servers are managed by your domain registrar. Instructions for managing DNS servers at WEDOS can be found in the article Domains - DNS servers (NSSET).
If everything is in order, click the activate HTTPS security button.
HTTPS activation will take effect within 1 hour.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check that HTTPS is working correctly?
Enter your website address into the browser with http (http://domena.tld). If everything is set up correctly, the address will automatically be corrected to the https version and marked with a lock icon. If this does not happen, carefully go through the guide steps again, including editing the .htaccess file.
I received an email reporting an error while renewing the certificate. What should I do?
The certificate ensures that HTTPS works correctly on the WebSite service. If the WebSite domain is not used, you do not need to address the certificate here. Otherwise, point the domain to WebSite. If you encounter connection problems to WebSite over HTTPS, request a check via the form ⧉.
