Signs of domain blocking
Blocked (locked) domains prevent effective domain management. Common actions affected by domain blocking include:
If you try to perform such an action on a blocked domain, it usually ends with an error until the domain is unblocked (unlocked).

Checking the status of a CZ domain
You can find the specific status of a CZ domain in the following ways:
- By running a basic domain diagnosis.
- By looking up the domain in the CZ.NIC registry ⧉. Any locks will be listed in the Status field.

Causes of domain blocking
VEDOS does not usually block domains, and blocking cannot be set in the customer administration either. Common causes therefore include blocking on the registry side for the following reasons:
- Contact settings for the domain owner or admin. For a CZ.NIC registry MojeID contact, domain blocking can be set for domains where this contact is set as the owner or one of the administrators.
- Invalid details of the domain owner or admin. The registry may block the domain due to fictitious or otherwise invalid details of its owner or administrator.
- Another justified decision by the registry. The registry may block the domain based on a court decision, for example if it is part of an inheritance, insolvency, or enforcement proceeding.
Resolving a blocked CZ domain
Resolve the issue with a blocked CZ domain by following these steps:
- If the owner or administrator has a MojeID contact, make sure the domain is not blocked there. Visit the domain browser ⧉, in the domain detail under All changes click the Blocked button and change the blocking settings.
- Check the owner’s email and physical mailboxes, or the domain administrators’, to see whether the registry
@nic.czcontacted any of them with a request to verify or update the domain contact details, or informed them about the domain being locked for another reason.- If you need to modify contact details registered through VEDOS based on a request from the registry (does not apply to MojeID contacts), follow the guide Domains – Edit contact.
- If you cannot determine the cause of the blocking, contact CZ.NIC registry customer support ⧉.
