This article applies to all generic domains (COM, ORG, INFO, …) including new generic domains (ONLINE, WEBSITE, …)
In this article, you will learn:
Verification of the generic domain owner's email
Email verification for generic domain owners is required by ICANN ⧉ (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) as part of its rules and policies ⧉.
Until you properly verify the domain owner's email, the registry will block the domain's DNS.
Verification procedure
Email verification is a one-time process, so if the registry already has the email verified, it does not require verification again.
New domain
After completing the registration of a new generic domain with an email that has not yet been verified, proceed as follows:
- Check the domain owner's email inbox, including the SPAM folder.
- Open the email from null@wedos.com with the subject Verification of the generic domain owner's email address / E-mail Address Verification Required.
- Click the link in the email starting with
https://client.wedos.com/waps/. This completes the verification.
If you do not confirm the domain owner's email promptly, the system will send reminders on days 7, 15, 30, and 45 after registration.
After confirmation, the registry will release the domain's DNS. It can take up to 48 hours for all changes to propagate.
Resending the verification email
If you cannot find the email with the verification link, you can have it resent by following these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the navigation bar, select Domains.
- Select the specific domain whose owner's email you want to verify. Unverified domains are marked with a warning triangle.
- In the domain detail, check the Captcha test and click the Send button.
- Complete the email verification by clicking the link in the message with the subject Verification of the generic domain owner's email address from null@wedos.com.

Transfer and change of domain owner
During a transfer and a change of domain owner, we verify the domain owner's email as part of the process itself. We will not require any further confirmation from you.
