Service renewal
Whenever you renew a service, you set the selected period in addition to the current expiration date.
The system increases the requested period at the moment the payment for the service is successfully processed. This is conditional on entering the exact amount (including cents) and the payment variable symbol, if the payment type you selected requires these details.
Changes to billing information and some add-on service settings cancel the original payment request and issue a new one with a new variable symbol. If you send a payment with the variable symbol from the original or any older invoice, the system will not renew the service. Contact us via the form ⧉, and include the service name and the variable symbol of the payment sent.
The basic time unit for which you can renew a service is 1 year. Some services allow a longer period, some a shorter one (however, with a handling surcharge). An overview is shown in the table:
| Service | Renewal |
|---|---|
| Webhosting, WebSite, Cloud, CD | 1 year (can be repeated up to the service limit) |
| Domains | 1 to 10 years (up to a maximum of 10 years) |
| WMS, VPS, dedicated servers, Disk | 1 year, or 1 month (with a 10% surcharge) |
Detailed information about the service expiration process can be found in the article Services – Expiration Process.
Manual service renewal
You can request manual service renewal using the following procedure:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- Select the type of service you want to renew in the top menu.
- In the overview, select the specific service you want to renew.
- Click Renewal in the left menu.

Renew service:
Some services offer specific renewal settings:
Domains
A domain can be prepaid up to 10 years in advance. To be able to renew a domain, it must expire in 9 years or less.
Discount coupons cannot be applied to domain renewals.

You can also set a recurring billing period for a domain from 1 to 9 years. The setting can be found on the same page as domain renewal.

WMS, servers and Disk
For WMS, VPS, dedicated servers and WEDOS Disk services, you can switch between annual and monthly billing (with a 10% surcharge). The new period takes effect from the current expiration date.

Bulk service renewal
For bulk service renewal, you need an active Credit Account with sufficient credit. Service prices paid from the Credit Account are without VAT.
You can renew services of the same type in bulk. Follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- Select the type of service you want to renew in the top menu.
- In the overview, check the services you want to renew.
- At the bottom of the overview, select Renewal.
- Click the execute button.

On the next page, enter the renewal details and click the Continue button. Then review the order details and confirm it with the Finish button.
Automatic service renewal
For automatic service renewal, you need an active Credit Account with sufficient credit. Service prices paid from the Credit Account are without VAT.
Automatically renewed services do not generate payment requests. If automatic renewal does not happen for any reason, renew it manually.
Automatic renewal can be set either for all services in selected categories (domains, webhostings, …), or for selected services placed in folders.
Global renewal settings
To automatically renew all services in selected categories, follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select My Account Customer.
- In the left menu, select Service Expiration Settings.
- For the selected service categories, check Automatic renewal.
- Click the Change settings button.
Settings using folders
This setting is described in detail in the guide Administration – Service Behavior Before Expiration.
Common problems
Common problems with service renewal include:
- The service is not displayed in the customer administration
- It is not possible to enter a discount coupon when renewing a domain
- The discount coupon for service renewal does not work
- Low credit balance on the Credit Account
- Automatically renewed service expired
- Payment for service renewal was returned to the account
The service is not displayed in administration
Problem: The service to be renewed is not displayed in the customer administration.
Cause: The service is registered with another provider, another customer, or it has been deleted.
Solution: Verify that the service is working. If it is, verify that you really have it with us and are logged in to the correct customer account. If you cannot verify this, ask for help from customer support ⧉. Provide the type and name of the service you are dealing with. Support may send you a hint with the name or company of the service administrator, or the login email. The extent of the provided hint is entirely at the discretion of support and cannot be claimed in any way.
If the service is not working, there is a high probability that the system deleted it after expiration. More information about service expiration can be found in the article Services – Expiration Process.
Cannot enter a domain discount coupon
Problem: There is no field for entering a discount coupon in the domain renewal order.
Cause: We already offer domains practically at purchase prices, so we do not offer any additional discounts for them.
Solution: Carefully review the terms of your discount coupon and apply it to the renewal of the service for which it is valid.
Discount coupon for renewal does not work
Problem: The discount coupon for service renewal does not work.
Cause: The coupon has expired, the maximum number of uses has been exhausted, or you are entering a coupon that only works for ordering new services.
Solution: Carefully review the terms of use and expiration date of your discount coupon. If you are convinced that the coupon should work for renewing your service, send via the form the coupon code, the name of the service where you are applying it, and the text or screenshot ⧉ of the error message.
Low credit balance on the account
Problem: When attempting bulk renewal, the message appears: The balance on the Credit Account is too low (X CZK). The order price is Y CZK.
Solution: Top up the required amount to the Credit Account.
Expired automatically renewed service
Problem: An automatically renewed service was not renewed due to insufficient credit and expired.
Cause: If the Credit Account has low credit and the service is not renewed, the system does not issue an invoice for it and tries to renew again from the account. If the renewal fails, the service expires.
Solution: Renew the service manually. Check and, if necessary, change the billing information of the Credit Account so that next time you receive a proper notification about the failed service renewal.
If you want an overview of service expiration and other outages of web and email services, use the domain extension WEDOS EWM ⧉, or the monitoring WEDOS OnLine ⧉.
Returned payment for renewal
Problem: The payment for service renewal was returned to the account.
Cause: As soon as the system deletes the expired service, it returns payments with the matching variable symbol. Regarding payments that the system was unable to match automatically, or that do not correspond to any older payment we record, the billing department will usually contact you.
Solution: Check the billing email of the service to see whether the billing department contacted you about an unidentified payment. Payments received more than 30 days after service expiration (with the exception of some services) are typically returned, because the system has deleted the services associated with them.
Frequently asked questions
Why do you send me a payment request for service renewal a month before the due date?
By default, we send emails in advance to reduce the risk of service outages in case of complications with email or payment. If you want to change the notification frequency, follow the guide Administration – Service Behavior Before Expiration.
How do I renew hosting for more than 1 year?
Some hosting services can be renewed for more than 1 year, but not in a single step. After paying for the first renewal, try requesting the renewal again – the system will either issue a new request for the next period, or reject the request (once the maximum renewal length for the given service has been reached).
Can I pay for a manually renewed service from credit?
Yes, follow this guide.
If I pay for the service earlier, won’t I lose part of the previous period?
No, whenever you pay for the service, it is renewed from the original expiration date. The same applies if you pay late: if you pay for the service 2 days later, the system renews it again from the expiration date, not from the date the payment is received and the service is restored to operation.
