FTP access credentials
FTP clients, for example WebFTP ⧉, always require these 3 details to log in:
- FTP server address, which is assigned to your service. It consists of a six-digit identification number, the server designation, and the wedos.net suffix, for example 123456.w78.wedos.net.
- Username consisting of the letter w, a six-digit number matching the number in the address, and in the case of a sub-account an additional name. Examples of usernames: w123456 (main account), w123456_webmaster (sub-account).
- Password generated by the system or set when creating the new account.
More information about FTP accounts can be found in the articles Webhosting – FTP Accounts and Disk – Connection.
Obtaining access credentials
When a webhosting service is set up, the system also creates the main FTP account and sends you its login details in the e-mail about service setup. The system also sends login details by e-mail when a new FTP account is created.
The account login details cannot be changed after creation, except for the password. You can change the password in the customer administration.
E-mail with access credentials
The default login details for the main FTP account can be found in the e-mail about service setup sent from hosting@wedos.com.
When a new FTP account (or Disk user account) is created, the e-mail also comes from hosting@wedos.com.
If you cannot find the e-mail with the login details, update them via the customer administration.
Customer administration
If you do not know the password for the FTP account, change it according to the instructions Webhosting – FTP Accounts or Disk – Users.
In the customer administration, you can find out the server address and the user's login name. Follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Hosting Services Webhosting or WMS, or Server Services Disk.
- From the list of services, select the webhosting for which you want to find the FTP details.
- In the Webhosting service detail in the FTP table, click the name of the account you want to use to log in to FTP.
- Copy the FTP server and Login name (login) details. If needed, change the password.

Common problems
An overview of common FTP connection problems and instructions for solving them can be found in the article FTP – Troubleshooting.
Frequently asked questions
Can you send me the FTP account password?
No, we do not have access to the FTP account password. Change it according to the Webhosting instructions or Disk.
How can I make it so I can enter the FTP server address in the form ftp.domain.tld?
You can set a CNAME record on your domain using this guide for the actual FTP address.
How do I change the username?
Create a new Webhosting FTP account or Disk user. However, the name will always contain an unchanging numeric part (for example w123456).
Can I use the address I use to log in to the administration as the login?
No, and the service provider's or customer's address does not work either, nor does the e-mail entered when creating the FTP account.
How do I log in to SFTP?
Only the WMS service supports logging in via the SFTP protocol. More information can be found in the article WMS – Connecting to SFTP.
Webhosting currently supports only FTP(S).
