Services - Move between Accounts

This guide covers only transferring a service from one customer account to another. If you want to hand over a service including billing and a change of owner or operator, follow the guide Services – Transfer to a New Owner.

In this article, you will learn:

Important information

Transferring a service to another customer account is (on your side) an irreversible operation. Once you transfer the service, you will lose access to it and therefore also authorization. If you forget to set anything on the service, any further changes can then be made only by the customer to whose account you transferred the service.

Also keep in mind that:

  • Changing the customer account has no effect on the operation of this service. The data of hosting services and access credentials remain the same.
  • By transferring a domain, you also transfer its DNS records, but you do not transfer other services with that domain name (webhosting, WebSite, …).
  • By transferring a service, you do not change the owner of the domain or the operator of the service.
  • Billing information remains the same after the transfer. If an invoice has been issued for the service before the transfer, it remains in the original customer account. A new invoice in the new account will be issued by the customer to whom you transfer the service by changing the billing information according to this guide. Changing the billing information will cancel the original invoice. The system will immediately issue a new one and send it to the current email address of the subscriber.

Transfer a service between accounts

Before you carry out the service transfer, make sure you are handing it over with the correct settings. The most common problem is outdated billing information.

Next, find the login email (login) and customer ID of the customer whose account you are transferring the service to. The ID is displayed in the header of the administration next to the name in parentheses.

The service transfer takes effect immediately. If you want to reverse it, ask the customer to transfer the service back to you using the same procedure.

There is no way to claim a transfer of the service from the new account back to the original account.
