Conditions for transferring services from another account
VEDOS acts only on the basis of:
- Authorized requests sent via the contact form ⧉ by the customer whose account contains the service, or by an authorized user.
- A written request from the domain owner with an officially verified signature.
- A court decision or a decision of another competent authority.
To transfer services from another account to your own, you must first create your own account. If you already have an account, log in.
Cooperation with the administrator
If the original service administrator cooperates, ask them to transfer the services to you according to the instructions Services – Transfer to another customer.
After the services are in your account, carefully check:
- Billing details of the services according to the instructions Services – Billing details.
- Domain owner details according to the instructions Domains – Edit contact.
- Hosting operator details Services – Change operator.
For existing services, also check and consider changing passwords (for security reasons) for FTP, databases, or content management systems (WordPress and others).
If the original administrator does not cooperate, follow the instructions below.
Transferring a domain from another account
If the original administrator does not want or cannot transfer the domain according to the instructions Services – Transfer to another customer, you can transfer it under these conditions:
- You have access to the domain owner's e-mail
- The domain is registered under your name or the company you represent
If the domain is registered to the administrator's e-mail and name, there is nothing we can do on our side. Resolve the matter through the courts - that is, by filing a lawsuit against your administrator. Based on a court decision, we will then transfer the domain to your account.
Transfer using the domain owner's e-mail
Follow the instructions Domains – Transfer using the authorization password. The password will be sent to the domain owner's e-mail in the registry (which may differ from the e-mail of the owner of the customer account in which the domain is located).
Transfer based on a person's name or company name
If all the domain owner's details are yours except for the e-mail or phone contact, follow these steps:
- Create a new domain contact with the appropriate registry according to the instructions Domains – Create a new contact.
- Write a request via the form ⧉ according to this template:
Žádám o změnu majitele domény (závorku nahraďte názvem domény) na kontakt (závorku nahraďte identifikátorem nově založeného kontaktu, např. WEDOS-ABC-12345). Doménu pak přesuňte do zákaznického účtu ID (závorku nahraďte ID účtu, např. 123456) s loginem (závorku nahraďte e-mailovou adresou, kterou se přihlašujete do Vašeho účtu).
- The authorization department will send you a request, which you should print out, have the domain owner's signature officially verified, and send to:
WEDOS Internet, a.s.
domain department
Masarykova 1230
37341 Hluboká nad Vltavou
If the domain is registered to a legal entity, the request must be confirmed by its statutory body or by a person authorized to act on behalf of that entity. In that case, attach a copy of the extract from the Commercial Register or another document confirming the authority of the signed person to the officially verified signature.
The usual processing time for the request is 5 business days.
Transferring a website from another account
You can transfer the Webhosting, WMS or WebSite service itself to your account only with the cooperation of the current administrator according to the instructions Services – Transfer to another customer.
If the administrator does not cooperate, follow these steps:
- Make sure you have the appropriate domain in your customer account, or that this account is its authorized user. If the domain is not registered with VEDOS, contact us ⧉ regarding checking its status and suggesting the next steps.
- Through the form ⧉, ask support to remove the webhosting name for the given domain. If the domain is not registered with us, provide proof that you are its owner.
- After the domain webhosting name is released, create a new webhosting service.
- Migrate the data from the original webhosting to the new one, either using automatic migration or manually.
The condition for transferring data is access to the FTP of the original webhosting. If you do not have this access, the website cannot be transferred. For this reason, it is not possible to transfer websites created in the WebSite editor without the administrator's cooperation.

Common issues
Common problems with transfers of services from another customer's account include:
The original service is unavailable
Problem: We have access to the FTP or e-mail mailboxes of the original service, but cannot log in.
Cause: FTP and e-mail mailboxes are usually unavailable after the service expires. In rare cases, we may block these accesses from our side. However, the non-cooperating administrator may also change the access credentials.
Solution: If the FTP or e-mail mailbox is unavailable due to an error on our side or the service expired no more than 5 days ago, we can handle the situation from our side. Write via the form ⧉, include the service name, the problematic FTP account (e-mail mailbox), and a screenshot ⧉ of the error message.
If the owner of the account in which the service is located changed the FTP (e-mail) password or completely blocked or deleted the account, unfortunately we cannot intervene without a court order.
A service cannot be created with a domain name
Problem: When attempting to create a new service for a domain, the error message This domain name cannot be used. – The domain name is already used by another service. appears.
Cause: With a few exceptions, the system does not allow new hosting services to be created with names or aliases of existing services.
Solution: According to the instructions in the chapter Transferring a website from another account or Transferring e-mails from another account, ask support to remove the service name and wait for a reply with confirmation.
