In this article, you will learn:
WMS as a service
The WMS (Webhosting Managed Server) service was created based on customer requests from users who needed a more powerful Webhosting ⧉ for their project, but did not want to manage their own VPS ⧉ server. It therefore has the following features:
- Dedicated scalable performance. WMS is essentially a virtual server whose purchased hardware resources are not shared with other users, unlike standard web hosting. You can therefore rely on the application having the allocated resources available and not being restricted by other websites on the same server. If they are no longer sufficient, you can increase them according to the instructions WMS – Increasing parameters.
- Webhosting, databases, email. Services on WMS are set up in just a few clicks. To run a website, you need webhosting and a database, and you can also assign email accounts to each webhosting.
- Administration management. You manage the WMS service exclusively from the customer administration; direct access to the server is not permitted.
Setting up WMS
Set up the WMS service in the following steps:
- Order the WMS ⧉ service.
- Wait for the service to be provisioned (usually within 1 hour of payment being received).
- Create a new webhosting and, if needed, a database. If required, assign email accounts.
- If you do not have all services with VEDOS, make sure that the DNS records of type A, or AAAA and MX are set correctly.
- Install the application you want to run on the website, or upload the website files to SFTP.
- Activate encrypted HTTPS connection and set it up on your website.

Glossary of terms
- HDD: Disk space used by WMS, divided between website files and database data. The service uses SSD drives.
- Grafana: Graphical interface for WMS performance diagnostics.
- Multihosting: Webhosting for multiple websites (usually domains) at the same time.
- Proxy cache: A caching server that speeds up content loading and saves server resources. In WMS, it has a limited number of handled requests per month.
- RAM/CPU: The ratio of RAM memory and processor threads allocated to the WMS service.
- Extended configuration: The option to adjust the RAM/CPU performance ratio and the HDD disk space allocated to the website and databases.
- SFTP: An encrypted version of the FTP protocol used with the WMS service. It is not possible to connect to SFTP from the WebFTP ⧉ client. We recommend the FileZilla client.
- SNI: An interface that enables connection via the secure HTTPS protocol.
- Dedicated hosting: The opposite of shared hosting, where a large number of websites run on one server. Dedicated hosting reserves the given server resources only for itself.
- WMS: Webhosting Managed Server. A service combining the performance of a virtual server with the user interface of standard web hosting.
