Webhosting - New Service Order

The current offer of web hosting services can be found on the product page for the Webhosting service ⧉.

If you want to use the service WebSite 1.0 ⧉ for your project, do not order Webhosting. Website hosting and, for paid variants, e-mails are already included in the WebSite service.

VEDOS Webhosting

Webhosting is one of our original services. It offers space for website files and databases, PHP support and thus also support for various content management systems (WordPress, Joomla, …), as well as e-mails.

If you want to create a website using a simple editor, try the WebSite ⧉ service. The basic variant (FREE) is free of charge.

Webhosting plans

We currently offer the Webhosting service in three plans, which you can further adjust using add-on services.

  • NoLimit. Webhosting NoLimit ⧉ is the base plan with parameters tuned especially for the popular WordPress content management system.
  • Extra. Webhosting Extra ⧉ expands NoLimit mainly with higher performance and daily backups.
  • LowCost. Webhosting LowCost ⧉ is for experienced users who optimize their website for minimal resource usage. For this reason, it does not include aliases.

Conditions for ordering Webhosting

You can create Webhosting for any second- or third-level domain, including domains registered with another provider.

Before creating a new order, make sure that: 

  • You have the domain for which you are ordering Webhosting in your customer account. Webhosting can also be set up by an authorized user of the domain. You do not need to meet this condition if you register the domain elsewhere than with VEDOS, or if you order a free domain with Webhosting.
  • The domain for which you are ordering Webhosting is not being used with another service (WebSite, Hosting WP, Mailhosting, WMS).

Ordering Webhosting

If you meet the conditions, order a new Webhosting in the order form ⧉. It has seven steps:

  1. Basic information
  2. Settings
  3. Login/registration
  4. Domain owner
  5. Billing information
  6. Operator
  7. Completion

1. Basic information

In the first step, enter the name (domain or subdomain without www) of the Webhosting. 

If you want to get a free domain with web hosting, fill in only this order (do not order the domain separately). The free domain promotion applies only to selected extensions (the current list can be found directly in the order form) and cannot be combined with most discount coupons.

Next, select the plan and add-on services. You can later change both in the customer administration according to the instructions Webhosting – Change plan and Webhosting – Add-on services.

Next, set the options:

In the next section, set:

  • Gifts. Choose whether you want a gift with web hosting (for example, a free domain). If you want to apply a discount coupon instead, select No gift.
  • Bonus for moving from a competitor. If you are not applying for this bonus, leave the field blank. More information about the bonus for moving from a competitor can be found on the website ⧉.
  • Discount coupon. Enter and apply the discount coupon code for setting up web hosting here. Coupons are usually not compatible with gifts.

2. Settings

In this step, fill in the domain settings for the domain ordered together with the web hosting. 

If you did not select the gift Free domain with web hosting, the system will skip this step.

3. Login/registration

In this step, log in or register in the customer administration.

If you are already logged in to the administration, the system will skip this step.

If you have problems logging in, follow the instructions Administration – Login problems.

4. Domain owner

In this step, fill in the details of the domain owner ordered together with Webhosting. 

If you did not select the gift Free domain with web hosting, or if you filled in an existing domain contact in step 2, the system will skip this step.

5. Billing information

Billing information may differ from the owner's details. The system will send all billing and communication regarding service settings to the e-mail address entered here (and only to this address).

You can update the service billing information later according to the instructions Services – Billing information.

6. Operator

In this step, fill in the details of the Webhosting operator, with whom WEDOS, a.s. will conclude a data processing agreement.

The Webhosting operator has no special powers over the service. In the event of a dispute, WEDOS, a.s. considers the customer whose account contains the service to be the owner of the service, unless a court or other competent authority decides otherwise.

7. Completion

In this step, carefully check the entered details, especially the billing e-mail.

At the end of the order, you can choose payment via Credit Account.

After submitting the order, the system will immediately send you an e-mail with payment details. After successful receipt of payment, it will set up the service within 1 hour.


Common problems

Common problems with ordering Webhosting include:

The domain is in another customer account

Problem: The error This domain name cannot be used. - The domain is recorded in another customer account, you must be in the same account or set permissions. is displayed.

Cause: The domain whose name you want to set for the hosting service must be in the same customer account as this hosting service, or it must be an account that is an authorized user of the domain and DNS. This is a security measure against domain misuse.

Solution: Move the domain at least temporarily to your own customer account (using the service transfer method, or by using an authorization password), or have your account set as an authorized user.

The domain name cannot be used

Problem: The error This domain name cannot be used. - The domain name is already used by another service (service) is displayed.

Cause: A domain (or subdomain) name can be used at most once for most hosting services in our system. It does not matter whether these services are in one customer account - the restriction is system-wide.

Solution: Rename the conflicting service (WebSite, Mailhosting, another Webhosting or alias) according to the instructions in the link, for example to stary.domena.tld, where domena.tld should be replaced with the name of your domain. Remove the alias completely.

Bonus for moving from a competitor

Problem: After ordering web hosting with the moving bonus, an invoice arrived and the web hosting does not work.

Cause: You receive the bonus period in addition to the 1st year of Webhosting operation.

Solution: Pay for the first year of service operation; the system will then send your bonus request for approval to customer support.

E-mails stopped arriving

Problem: After setting up web hosting, e-mails to an external service (Google Workspace, …) stopped arriving.

Cause: If you leave the option to apply changes in WEDOS DNS checked in the web hosting order, the system will overwrite both A and AAAA records and MX records.

Solution: Set the DNS records of type MX back to the original e-mail provider.

The domain points to the original web hosting

Problem: Despite overwriting DNS, the domain points to the original web hosting.

Cause: The domain probably does not use WEDOS DNS servers. The content of the original website may also be cached in the browser.

Solution: Check whether the domain uses WEDOS DNS servers (NSSET). If so, wait up to 1 hour for the DNS records to be overwritten and clear the browser cache ⧉; if not, change the records manually with the current provider. 


Frequently asked questions

Is the space of NoLimit and NoLimit Extra web hosting really unlimited?

Yes, but it applies only to files that the website actively uses. It is forbidden to keep backups in this space (use the Free Backup Disk for backup purposes). The file size is also physically limited by the server capacity.

I entered the wrong domain name, what should I do?

If the service has not yet been set up, ask support to cancel the order via the form ⧉. If the system has already set up the web hosting, rename it according to these instructions.

The form skips some order steps; why does this happen?

Some form steps depend on previous settings, for example the choice of the gift Free domain for this web hosting.
